Our goals:

• Paying Our Staff

  • Due to 98% of residents living below the federal poverty level, we must ensure that any time our staff puts towards Upijata on location must be paid. We pay our instructors $20 per class and our front desk workers $50 per day

• Programming

  • We provide our students with art supplies ($10 per student per month) and dance shoes ($20-$40 per student per year) so that they can participate in our classes

  • We also provide snacks and lunch for our students due to the insecurity of food in many local households ($20 per student per month)

• Transportation

  • Local families often only have one car which is used for the guardians’ work. Therefore, there is no way for children to access extracurricular activity unless we can help provide them with a form of transportation

  • Gas is used to provide transportation ($5 per student per month)

  • We also have to keep our van running. maintenance is needed

• Facility Updates

  • Our goal is to expand our services to more of our brothers and sisters on the Reservation by adding a new building after updating our current facility

  • We are currently located in the building of the award-winning Cloud Horse Art Institute which we would also love to help update

  • Our goal is to raise $75,000 towards these facility updates

• Overhead Costs

  • Our general overhead costs include maintaining the building, heating and cooling ($100 per year), and monthly rent ($70 per month)
